A local foundation has earned the Guinness world record for "Most People to Sign Up as Organ Donors — 8 Hours."
The Quest Foundation announced it has been certified for the record after encouraging 241 Utahns to sign up as organ donors on Oct. 24 at an event in Liberty Park.
The previous record was set at a rugby match in England in 2003 when 143 people signed up as organ donors.
"It is not the world record that matters," foundation founder David Nemelka said.
The foundation is urging other organ donation advocacy groups to break the new record to help solve a shortage of organ donors.
