A 14-day public open house and a single-date dedication have been announced for the Vancouver British Columbia Temple by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The temple — which will be the LDS Church's 131st in operation worldwide — will be dedicated in three sessions scheduled for Sunday, May 2.

The public will be invited to visit the temple in open-house tours from Friday, April 9, through Saturday, April 24, excluding Sundays.

The Vancouver temple was announced on May 25, 2006, by then-President Gordon B. Hinckley, with ground broken on Aug. 4, 2007.

Formal temple work will commence at the Vancouver British Columbia Temple on Monday, May 3.

The temple will serve approximately 22,000 LDS Church members living in the Canadian province of British Columbia and northern Washington state. Some 180,000 Mormons live in Canada.
