RIVERTON — A 17-year-old boy remains hospitalized with a fractured skull after he fell off the hood of a moving car Friday.

Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson said some teenagers were driving around in the Riverton High School parking lot and one teen was riding on the hood of the car. The driver slammed on the brakes, which flung the boy onto the pavement, causing a head injury.

"We got the call around 2 a.m. but the accident occurred closer to 10 p.m.," Hutson said.

The youth's friends knew he was hurt, but did not realize how badly until he started showing signs of a head injury.

The teen was in critical condition when he was taken to Riverton Hospital and later was moved to Intermountain Medical Center.
