Illegal and law abiding?

For the life of me I cannot understand the point of view repeatedly expressed by the editorial staff of the Deseret News concerning undocumented aliens. Can there be a more perfect example of an oxymoron than to concurrently refer to a group as "undocumented and law abiding," "illegal and honest"? How can one at the same time be both?

Moreover, to turn a blind eye to illegal entry is a slap in the face of those who seek and patiently wait for legal entry. It appears their bleeding hearts may have deprived the collective brains of the Deseret News editorial staff of their capacity for rational thought.
