SANDY — A driver who touched off a three-car crash Friday morning on I-15 northbound is in serious to critical condition, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. near 10300 South, said trooper Cameron Roden, when the driver of a passenger car drifted across two lanes and hit a pickup truck. The contact caused the truck to roll, Roden said.
The car then clipped another vehicle in the HOV lane, causing a second crash, Roden said.
The driver of the first car was transported by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center. There was no word on any other injuries.
Roden said the two left lanes on I-15 northbound will remain closed for the next few hours as troopers investigate and clean up the crash.
