Liberal because LDS

I was fascinated by Sutherland Institute President Paul Mero's declaration that his conservatism comes from his being a Latter-day Saint. His statement that "there is a strong relationship between Mormonism and conservative intellectual thought" is no doubt true. But there is also a strong relationship between Mormonism and liberal intellectual thought. The gospel of Jesus Christ is too broad and too deep to be confined to one end of the political spectrum. I'm a liberal because I'm a Latter-day Saint.
