PROVO — Team trainers say X-rays on the right foot of BYU guard Jackson Emery show no fractures and the Cougar junior still could play Wednesday against Utah State.
The diagnosis from Emery's injury, suffered in practice Monday, is a mid-foot sprain to his right foot. He's listed as a game-time decision, but it's unlikely that he'll practice with the team today before it leaves for Logan.
Emery, a 6-foot-3 junior from Lone Peak High, was bumped and landed awkwardly on his foot in practice Monday. The pain on top of his foot prevented him from finishing the practice and he eventually left with trainers to have the injury evaluated.
Emery is one of the top defensive players in the Mountain West Conference and is leading BYU in steals with 14 in five games. He's also averaging 13.2 points per game. He's also second on the team with 25 rebounds in five games, and second with 10 assists. Emery has also made 15-of-27 shots from behind the 3-point line.
