A man who stole a woman's bra from her home early Sunday may be the same man responsible for similar events in the area, police said.
About 5 a.m. Sunday, a man was caught "rummaging through a bedroom" by the room's occupant who woke up because she heard a noise and confronted the man, said Salt Lake police detective Pat Wilkinson. The man wasn't armed and didn't appear to have forced his way into the home, located on Emerson Ave., but rather walked in through an unlocked door.
When the woman saw him and confronted him, he took one of her bras and ran out the front door. Wilkinson said this incident was similar to a few others that the police have dealt with in the past six months. Based on the descriptions, police believe the same man is responsible for all of them.
He is a white male in his 30s, around 6 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build, police said. He targets homes with female residents located east or south of the University of Utah and enters through open or unlocked doors. He isn't armed or confrontational, but always takes some kind of undergarment. In Sunday's burglary, he was wearing blue jogging pants and a tan coat.
