BRIGHTS GROVE, Ontario — Mike Weir was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame on Saturday night at Huron Oaks, the course where the left-hander fell in love with the game.

"It's special to do it here," said Weir, the 2003 Masters champion. "I see a lot of family and friends. Obviously, it's kind of where I grew up and where it all began for me. I feel good. It's a great night."

The 39-year-old Sandy resident has eight PGA Tour victories, matching George Knudson for the most by a Canadian.

Weir's Hall of Fame plaque was unveiled Saturday night and features a sketch along with a brief biography. It will make a permanent home alongside other honored members at the Hall of Fame on Glen Abbey's grounds. An exhibit featuring Weir's memorabilia has been on display at Glen Abbey since July.
