A Lehi man died after a dirt bike crash Saturday afternoon at a popular motocross park near the Jordan River in northern Salt Lake County, authorities said.

Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson said investigators with the department's major accident team are reconstructing what happened to cause the 12:30 p.m. incident at 2800 N. Rose Park Lane (1935 West).

The victim, 31-year-old Brian D. Buttars, was making a series of jumps and was found at the bottom of a hill. Despite wearing a helmet and other protective gear such as a chest plate, Buttars suffered traumatic injuries that caused cardiac arrest, Hutson said.
