The Utah College of Applied Technology will continue to take public comment on its consideration of two finalists for president until Friday at 3 p.m. Comments sent to the UCAT Board of Trustees prior to Monday at noon were not received, due to a disruption in e-mail service, and officials are asking those persons to resubmit their thoughts on the matter.
Former UCAT president Robert O. Brems and Davis Applied Technology College President Michael J. Bowhuis are being considered to lead the eight-campus institution, which this year gained independence from the state's Board of Regents, with its own governing board of trustees.
"We value the public's interest in the board's selection of a UCAT president," UCAT board chairman Tom Bingham said. "We've received quite a few comments so far, providing a broad range of input, and are hopeful that those who may have sent messages over the weekend will resubmit them."
As announced last Friday, the UCAT board will be meeting Monday at 9:30 a.m. to revisit the appointment of a UCAT president. Brems had been named as president, but it was later found that policy and procedures were not followed correctly, requiring the process to be redone. While comments are encouraged by the deadline for timely consideration, any others received by Sunday at midnight, will be forwarded to the board during its meeting on Monday.
