Murray police catch alleged burglar
MURRAY — A man police believe broke into three garages before being caught was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail early Tuesday.
Beginning about 11:30 p.m. Monday, a man entered at least three garages between 900 West and 1200 West, and between 5900 South and 6400 South, and took an undisclosed amount of property, mainly from vehicles parked inside, said Murray police detective Kenny Bass.
In all of the incidents the man was able to enter the garage because the door was left open, he said.
A neighbor who spotted a suspicious vehicle in one of the burglaries called police. Officers spotted the pickup truck the man was driving, which he abandoned a short time later and ran off, Bass said. The vehicle that was abandoned was stolen out of South Jordan Monday, he said.
Police K9s were called and helped track down the man, although one of them was punched.
Terrin Maxwell, 21, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of three counts of burglary, fleeing, inuring a police K9, stolen vehicle, three counts of possession of a weapon by a restricted person and three counts of criminal mischief.
In 2007, Maxwell was convicted of aggravated assault, according to court records.
