Some Latter-day Saint performers in Weiser, Idaho, are reaching out to the community with their production of "The First Christmas," a musical about a young girl's struggle to understand the true meaning of Christmas.

Stephi Johnson's stake planned to stage the production and invite members of other denominations to participate. Auditions were in September, and free performances will be Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Weiser High School, 690 W. Indianhead Rd., Weiser, Idaho.

"Though we did not have any members outside our faith audition I am still determined to produce a high quality production for the entire community," Johnson said. "I want to show the community that we are able to reach out and want to let others know of our faith and love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
