LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Utah State University plans to start offering an associate's degree in pre-engineering.

Utah State's board of trustees approved the plan last week, but the state board of regents must still approve.

The degree will be available at the school's three regional campuses in Brigham City, the Uintah Basin and Tooele.

Students will be able to complete the first two years of coursework for a bachelor's degree in engineering at the regional campuses.

USU officials say the school has been trying to put together the program for years.
