Brazil wins volleyball Grand Champions Cup

NAGOYA, Japan (AP) — Top-ranked Brazil overpowered Japan in straight sets Monday to win the volleyball World Grand Champions Cup.

The South American champions won 25-12, 26-24, 25-22 to raise their record to 5-0 in the six-nation tournament. Brazil won this event the last time it was played in 2005.

Cuba defeated Iran 25-14, 25-22, 15-25, 25-15 to finish second with a 4-1 record. Japan went 3-2 and was third, its first medal in men's volleyball in 32 years.

Poland defeated winless Egypt 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 to finish fourth with a 2-3 mark. Iran placed fifth at 1-4.
