WEBER COUNTY — A fast-moving fire destroyed a garage Saturday in unincorporated Weber County, west of Warren.

The homeowner was burning bamboo shoots when the flames spread to a camper and then to the garage, which was also used as a workshop, according to Capt. Chuck Stokes of the Weber Fire District.

Firefighters had a lot of ground to cover to reach the blaze near 500 North and 6700 West, Stokes said.

"They did the best they could with what they had when they got there," he said. Crews arrived at the scene just in time to remove a propane tank from the vicinity, preventing it from exploding.

There were no injuries, but damage was estimated at $125,000.
