No matter what Texas Longhorns think, TCU still has a chance

A question for all of my self-righteous and immensely entitled Longhorns friends: How do you figure Texas is better than TCU?

I mean they might be, or maybe The Horned Frogs slap them around in a game just like Utah did to Alabama, and maybe this game deserves to be for a national championship. My question is: How do you know for sure?

Because all I have heard in the way of arguments for Longhorns superiority sound a lot like toddler-think rather than fact-based analysis.

Better class of athletes. More fans, more butts in seats, more eyeballs on TVs, more pretty burnt-orange gear. Big 12 superiority.

And my personal favorite, because Texas is Texas.

Yes, imagine if Texas was, say, TCU and thus history and conference entitlement were non-factors and Longhorn players had to, you know, actually prove said superiority in a game.

They actually have a name for that, a playoff, which is used in every legit sport except college football. And on this basis, many believe TCU does not have a chance this year.

Do not listen. Anybody saying TCU in Pasadena playing for a faux national championship (FNC) requires "Armageddon," or is an impossibility not worthy of mention, is ignoring the wisdom of cinematic greatness "Dumb and Dumber".

"Lloyd: The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?

Mary: Not good

Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?

Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million.

Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance"

So here's how to get TCU to a National Championship right now, this January because 2010 is too late.

1. One of the Little Dwarfs sticks it to Texas.

Your choices are Kansas, Texas A&M and Kansas State or Nebraska to handle this heavy lifting. I do not have a lot of hope for this group of not-so-Big 12ers.

Give me The Hated Jayhawks as most likely.

They are exactly the type of team capable of slaying this giant, a complete and utter train wreck.

The coach is so totally going to be fired, his players despise him and it hasn't won since early October. And yet I'd be a little nervous this weekend down in Austin.

I mean, if Jayhawks coach Mark Mangino really had been raining emotional devastation down on his players during Orange Bowl seasons, imagine what he's saying now that he's weeks away from almost certain unemployment. And that spunky little QB is from Austin and may just have a final shock-the-world in him.
