COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Top-ranked Salt Lake Community College defeated Hillsborough College in three sets on Thursday to advance to the final four of the NJCAA National Tournament.

Salt Lake controlled the match, never allowing Hillsborough to grab the momentum in winning 25-21, 25-15 and 25-20.

The service line was the difference-maker for the Bruins, with seven aces against Hillsborough.

Middle hitters LaKell Havens and Erika Charry were the unstoppable duo combining for 23 kills and only committing one error. Havens put down 12 balls to lead the team.

The win puts Salt Lake (29-7, 2-0) in the semifinals against the winner of College of Southern Idaho-Miami Dade College. The match is today at 5:30 p.m. MST.
