'Angels & Demons' among new DVDs
The following DVDs will be released Tuesday, unless otherwise specified:
"Angels & Demons" (Sony, $28.96) — ★½ — A thriller so far-fetched that it makes the "National Treasure" movies look plausible. Tom Hanks stars.
Special features: Two-disc "extended" version ($36.95) includes footage cut from theatrical release, behind-the-scenes mini-documentary.
PG-13 (violence, gore, drugs, nude art, profanity)
"Four Christmases" (Warner, $28.98) — ★½ — A noxious Christmas comedy featuring the chemistry-free pairing of Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon.
PG-13 (vulgarity, brief sex, violence, profanity, brief drugs, slurs)
"Funny People" (Universal, $29.98) — ★★ ½ — A really good little movie trying to get out of a crude, oversize format. Adam Sandler stars.
Special features: Two-disc unrated version ($34.98) includes footage cut from theatrical release, behind-the-scenes mini-documentary.
R (profanity, vulgarity, sex, drugs, brief nudity, slurs, violence)
"Gomorrah" (Criterion, $39.99) — ★★★ — Solid performances make this tale about the Neopolitan mafia watchable. Italian with subtitles
Special features: Behind-the-scenes minidocumentary, deleted scenes, theatrical trailers.
Not rated, probable R (violence, gore, drugs, profanity, nudity, vulgarity, slurs, brief sex)
"Imagine That" (Paramount, $22.99) — ★ — An Eddie Murphy vehicle so deprived of humor it almost defies categorization as a comedy.
PG (vulgarity, violence, mild profanity, slurs, brief drugs)
"Janky Promoters" (Weinstein, $19.97) — Ice Cube wrote and stars in this comedy about a shady concert promoter.
R (profanity, drugs, sex, vulgarity)
"The Maiden Heist" (Sony, $16.97) — Caper comedy starring Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman and William H. Macy.
PG-13 (profanity, nudity, violence)
