BYU men's cross country coach Ed Eyestone was named the Mountain Region Men's Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The USTFCCCA today announced the women's and men's coaches and athletes of the year for nine Division I regions.

The Cougars won a hard-fought crown at the NCAA Mountain Regional, held Nov. 14, in Albuquerque, N.M. BYU took the region title by a 54-55 score over the University of Colorado after posting a runner-up finish at the Mountain West Conference Cross Country Championships last month.

Eyestone has been named the MWC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year six times during his tenure at BYU.

The Cougars are ranked fifth in the nation heading into Monday's NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

The men's race will begin at 10:08 a.m. MST, followed by the women's event at 10:58 a.m. Both races will be broadcast live on the VERSUS Network and streamed online via NCAA.com.
