The Northern Utah Triathlon Club is being formed for people who want to learn how to cross-train properly for triathlons and avoid injury.
Triathlons have become a fast-growing sport in Utah, and Lora Erickson, a certified running coach since 1996 and a competitive triathlete/runner, is now organizing the new triathlon club because "with the quick growth of triathlons, education is needed."
"The group will welcome beginners, intermediate and elite/professional athletes," Erickson said, noting that weekly group bicycle rides, swimming clinics and running lectures will be scheduled regularly.
Erickson has also scheduled upcoming programs for fitness and diet planning, an outdoor winter bootcamp which begins Dec. 1, along with January 2010 classes on coping with emotional eating and on optimum weight loss and indoor fitness.
She has also scheduled a women's triathlon-team-training program in March 2010 and an adult and children's triathlon-training program in June 2010.
