OGDEN — Jesse Garcia, who has served 16 years on the Ogden City Council, will leave the council at the end of 2009.
A certification of the Nov. 3 election Tuesday night showed that Garcia lost to challenger Neil Garner by 17 votes for Municipal Ward 1.
The men had been separated by 18 votes on election night, and absentee and provisional ballots came in nearly even.
In other council races, Councilman Doug Stephens maintained his sizable lead over Patrick Dean in Municipal Ward 3; Susie Van Hooser received 3,642 votes to Mark Hains' 2,623 for At-Large Seat A; and Bart Blair, who was unopposed for At-Large Seat B, received 4,774 votes.
