Youths in sad state

It's sad to read that 75 percent of youths today are unfit for military service because of poor education, obesity, drugs, criminal records and physical ailments.

The report also stated that one in four between the ages of 17 and 24 does not have a high school diploma. This is a problem that our local, state and national leaders seem to ignore or put on the bottom of their priority lists. Parents are also responsible if they don't stress education and physical fitness.

The Army states that 7 to 15 percent of enlistees return home for not meeting all the basic training demands. If this generation of young people fit into that category, think what their children will be like.
