WEST VALLEY CITY — A teenager was shot during a drive-by shooting Sunday while sitting inside a home.

West Valley City Police said the 17-year-old was sitting in the living room of a residence near 1700 W. Lake Park Drive when a bullet came through the wall and hit him in the upper leg. Witnesses said they heard five to six shots ring out, but no one else was injured.

The teen was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, but police said he'll likely survive the wound.

Officers are investigating the shooting, but the only lead is one neighbor who witnessed a Toyota Camry drive off fast, "and we don't even know if that's the suspect vehicle or not," Taylor said.

"As far as we can tell, our victim doesn't have any gang ties, or anyone else in the building," Taylor said. "Our investigators will be looking into it."
