A plea to senators

I write this letter as a humble plea to U.S. senators in the South and in the West: Please remember your states' rights. Recall how in the past the conservative Southern Democrats stood up against the federal government's intervention into the rights of the states. They have often moderated the extremist positions of liberal politicians and at times have been more conservative than the Republicans.

Resist the current tide of having the federal government take care of the individual citizens and the lands within the states. Defeat the federal health-care and the cap-and-trade programs. You are the hope of this and future generations.
