LAYTON — A family of six had to leave their home after a fire caused significant damage Saturday night.

It took fire crews about 40 minutes to put out the flames after arriving at the home, 1549 Oak Hills Circle, about 8:20 p.m. Layton Fire battalion chief Lonnie Adams said they believe the flames originated near a wood-burning stove in the attic above an add-on to the house.

No one was injured in the fire. Adams said he believes the add-on suffered the primary damage.

Fire officials believe the flames caused an estimated $50,000 in damages.

The family will be staying with relatives for the time being, according to the American Red Cross.
