Utah State campus briefs
CROSS COUNTRY: The Aggies finished seventh at the NCAA Mountain Regional Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M., while the Aggie women placed 14th in its final team competition of the season.
Sophomore Brian McKenna led the Aggie men as he finished the 10k course in 19th-place with a time of 30:57.5. Freshman Alex Litzsinger was the top finisher for the Aggie women as she competed the 6k course in 22:18.5 to place 41st.
Following McKenna for Utah State was junior Nick Bolinder who finished 23rd overall with a time of 31:07.0. Also doing well for the Aggies was sophomore Daniel Howell who finished 27th in 31:12.7.
Other Aggie finishers for the men included Steve Atkinson (32:04.2) who placed 49th and senior Jason Holt (32:10.1) who came in 53rd. Senior Steve Strickland (32:19.4) took 61st and junior Chio Lopez (32:57.3) rounded out the USU finishers tabbing 83rd.
Brigham Young won the men's team championship with 54 points and was followed closely by Colorado with 55 points. Host New Mexico took third with 77 points.
On the women's side, sophomore Jessie Chugg (22:44.9) finished 67th-place, while junior Alicia Holt (23:01.7) finished in 82nd-place. Following Holt was junior Justine Baugh (23:10.5) in 91st place and junior Kim Quinn (23:22.5) tabbed 100th. Following close behind was freshman Kaylee Campbell (23:25.3) in 103rd while senior Erin Stratton (23:29.3) came in 104th.
Colorado took first overall on the women's side with 48 points while Texas Tech finished second with 53 points. BYU finished in third-place with 114 points.
The top two teams in each region receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 24th.
