Former Ute safety Weddle fined by league

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle has been fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness for a hit in last Sunday in a win over the New York Giants.

The NFL said Weddle made helmet-to-helmet contact with a defenseless receiver.
