U. police seek 2 men in sexual assaults
University of Utah police are looking for two men believed to be responsible for two sexual-assault incidents on campus.
On Nov. 5, several young women were walking in the area of the Heritage Center when a man approached them saying "some bizarre stuff," said U. Police Chief Scott Folsom.
The man claimed he was on a scavenger hunt and asked if he could touch the women's breasts or buttocks. The man touched the women inappropriately and ran off, Folsom said.
He was described as being in his mid- to late 30s, about 6 feet tall, weighing between 200 and 210 pounds, and was last seen wearing shorts and a hoodie. The man ran off toward the Legacy Bridge.
Two days later, a woman was walking in the Fort Douglas area when she was approached by a man who touched her over her clothing and also ran off, Folsom said.
That man was described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with balding black hair and a husky build. He was last seen wearing baggy jeans and a white jacket with green lettering.
Police are encouraging women to be vigilant when walking around campus and to remember to take precautions such as being aware of their surroundings and walking in groups, especially at night, when possible.
Anyone with information on the attacks can call 801-585-2677.
