Trailing 7-6 in the second quarter, the Bingham defense forced Alta quarterback Jordan Brown to fumble on the Hawks' 27-yard line. The Miners recovered, took the lead with a 37-yard Braeden Loveless field goal and never looked back on their way to the semifinal victory.
A BIT OF HISTORY
The Miners are now 5-3 against the Hawks over the last four years, putting up 191 points against the Alta defense while giving up 173. The cross-town rivals are now 2-2 in state tournament games, including the 21-17 come-from-behind victory for the Hawks in the 2008 title game.
