5A Semifinal Davis 41, Hunter 17

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Tanner Hinds

Class 5A's leading rusher was up to his usual tricks rushing for 187 yards and 2 TDs on just 19 carries for the Darts.

PLAY OF THE GAME

With less than two minutes left in the half and Davis leading 14-10, Hunter tried a gimmicky halfback pass that backfired in a big way. Kyler Sprague intercepted the pass at the 28-yard line and four plays later Gavin Fowler ran it in from 5 yards out to increase the lead to 21-10.

A BIT OF HISTORY

By advancing to the state championship game where it will face Bingham, Davis sets up a rematch of the 1974 3A state championship game won by Davis 17-14. In the most recent meeting between Davis and Bingham in the 2007 quarterfinals, the Miners rolled to the 45-7 victory.

QUOTABLE

"I'm proud of my boys. They battled through. They earned the right to be here and they've made the most of it." - Ryan Bishop, Davis head coach
