THE STAKES

For Utah ... Sole possession of first place in the Mountain West Conference... The defending champions want to keep the trophy in Salt Lake City.

For TCU ... Same thing — with a twist. The fourth-ranked Horned Frogs are also in prime position to cash in on the Bowl Championship Series.

THE TRENDS

For Utah ... The Utes have become road warriors, as of late. They've won six consecutive conference games away from the comforts of Rice-Eccles Stadium.

For TCU ... Winning. The Frogs have hopped over the competition for 12 straight victories. They're seeking the program's first undefeated season since 1938.

THE EDGE

Story continues below

Utah will win if ... History means anything. The Utes are 5-1 all-time against the Horned Frogs, including victories in the last three meetings. The lone loss came in overtime in 2005.

TCU will win if ... Defensive end Jerry Hughes is able to get past Utah's offensive line on a regular basis. The athletic senior was a consensus first-team All-American in 2008.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Jordan Wynn, Utah: How will the true freshman quarterback play in his second collegiate start in a hostile environment with interest from across the nation?

KEY MATCHUP

UTAH RB EDDIE WIDE VS. TCU'S DEFENSE: Can the Runnin' Ute extend his streak of 100-yard games to seven against a Horned Frogs defense that allows just 89.7 rushing yards per game?

INJURY REPORT

Utah: Linebacker Matt Martinez (quad strain) and defensive tackle Kenape Eliapo (undisclosed illness) will not play.

TCU: Strong safety Collin Jones (hamstring) is questionable.
