SANDY — If you plan to travel in the high-occupancy-vehicle lane on I-15 this weekend, pay attention to some changes the Utah Department of Transportation is making.

As part of the $252 million 11400 South project, UDOT is replacing pavement on southbound I-15 between 10600 South and 12300 South. The four travel lanes will shift to the west, and the HOV lane will remain in the current location, with the concrete replacement taking place in the middle of traffic.

Crews will isolate the HOV lane with concrete barriers. That will ensure the crews' safety and make it impossible for traffic to leave the HOV lanes between 10600 South and Bangerter Highway.

If drivers want to exit at 10600 South or 12300 South, they must drive in the four general lanes.

Crews are planning the changes for Saturday night until Sunday morning, though the weather might change that.

"We anticipate there might be a storm coming in," said Marwan Farah, UDOT resident engineer. "So it may be Sunday night to Monday morning. We will try to be open for the Monday morning commute."
