Cities favor boundary adjustment
WOODLAND HILLS, Utah County — Landowners and city officials say a planned boundary adjustment between Woodland Hills and Elk Ridge would make it easier to provide utility services as the communities develop.
The proposed adjustment would place Woodland Hills on the east side of Loafer Canyon Road and Elk Ridge on the west side in some areas. In other areas, it would follow property lines, Elk Ridge Mayor Dennis Dunn said.
The adjustment, if carried out, would eliminate fingers of land and islands that jut into the respective cities. It also would be beneficial to neighboring landowners in the unincorporated area by possibly reducing their taxes if they annexed into Elk Ridge, Dunn said.
On Thursday, the Woodland Hills City Council approved a resolution of intent to follow through with the adjustment, setting a public hearing for Dec. 10.
The Elk Ridge City Council likely will discuss the proposed change at its Dec. 8 meeting.
