SANTA CLARA, Washington County — Two middle-school students were taken to a St. George hospital with minor injuries Friday following a school bus crash.
The crash occurred about 7:20 a.m. when the 21-year-old driver of a pickup truck was talking on a cell phone and ran a red light, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden. The truck hit the bus on the right side near the back of the bus.
The bus was carrying nearly 50 students, Roden said. Two girls suffered bumps and bruises and were taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center as a precaution, the trooper said.
The driver of the truck was not injured. He was cited for careless driving and equipment violations, Roden said.
