The Utah volleyball team's recent perfect streak in televised matches came to an end Thursday night.

The Utes, who were 7-0 on TV since 2008, went down fighting against MWC top dog Colorado State. The Rams won the spirited battle in front of The mtn. cameras, 25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23.

The Utes came out fired up in the first set, but the Rams brought their A game. Each team traded points as there were 14 ties but only three lead changes.

Chelsea Sandberg blasted two consecutive smashes to tie the set at 19, but the Rams took over for the 25-20 win.

"I thought we played hard," Sandberg said.

Rams sophomore setter Evan Sanders was the difference, making perfect sets off any kind of a pass.

In Game 2, the Utes started strong. When Karolina Bartkowiak slammed a monster smash, the score was 10-4 and the Utes were ready to say "Bye-bye, good buddy."

"We started off a little shaky, but turned things around," Utah coach Beth Launiere said.

But the Rams tied it at 13 and took a 25-21 win.

"We have had a problem with that a lot this year," Utah coach Beth Launiere said.

The Utes battled back in the third game, catching the Rams at 17 apiece and winning 25-19. Danielle Killpack shined for the Utes in the game with a couple of key smash-down blocks. She was named the player of the game for Utah with nine kills and six blocks.

"We came out fired up, and we competed," Killpack said.

The fourth set was fiercely contested. The Rams called timeout at 23 apiece and charged to a 25-23 victory.

At one point, Bartkowiak appeared to take over but the Rams experience prevailed.

"We made some runs," said Bartkowiak, "but they just beat us."

The Utes (15-10, 8-5 MWC) host Wyoming on Saturday.

BYU 3, WYOMING 0: At Provo, after a close five-set match at Wyoming on Oct. 17, the Cougars (13-12, 7-6 MWC) swept the Cowgirls (12-17, 2-12 MWC) 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.
