OREM — Two men were arrested in suspicion of assault, kidnapping and nearly flattening an officer during a pursuit Wednesday.

The officer responded to a call report that there were people at the door trying to collect money from someone living near 400 North. and 400 East about 7 a.m., according to Orem Police Sgt. Craig Martinez.

When the officer approached a dark Jeep Cherokee with two people inside, the vehicle sped off, nearly running him over. After the passenger jumped out, the Jeep turned left onto 200 North and out of sight before the officer could pursue it, Martinez said.

A short time later, residents near 100 North and 600 East reported that a vehicle had crashed at high speed through a fence into an orchard. The driver fled on foot.

Martinez said they suspect the same men took a victim to Provo Canyon against his will to collect money Tuesday night, and then punched and kicked him several times.

Joshua Williams, 29, and Kenny Prows, 32, were booked into Utah County Jail on Wednesday.
