With Juan Diego leading 21-14 shortly before halftime, Wasatch forced the Soaring Eagle into a punt and was hoping to take advantage of the momentum by moving down field for the tying score. Instead, Frankie Sutera intercepted a pass with 46 seconds remaining to halt the drive.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Juan Diego is now 5-0 all-time in state tournament semifinal games. It advanced to three state championship games as a 2A school, winning twice. Last year it advanced to its first 3A state championship game in school history and beat Hurricane 21-18.
