The following paragraphs are taken from an article in The Purcell (Okla.) Register that profiles U.S. Army veteran and LDS Church member Ron Fishburn:
Fishburn joined the Mormon Church in 1963. He said he and
his family were Methodists prior to that. In the Mormon Church, Fishburn has served as bishop for the
Noble Ward LDS Church for nine years.
Returning to Purcell, Fishburn joined the Purcell Rotary
Club in 1981. In this organization, he has served as president and as district
governor for all of southwest Oklahoma.
His civic duties include serving as mayor of Purcell five
times and being a member of the Purcell City Council for 18 years
