Santa comin' to town too soon

Take time to celebrate Thanksgiving before spinning holiday CDs

I need some sleep.

I've been burning the candle at both ends, and I really need some sleep.

And while I've struggled with insomnia since I was in high school, it doesn't bother me as much as it has in the past.

Still, I need some sleep.

The problem is I have so much I want to do and so little time.

I remember talking with Danny Elfman the year Oingo Boingo broke up. He said he was frustrated by the fact that there was only 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year.

But he also said, "If there were more, we'd probably fill those hours up as well."

I'm looking at stacks of CDs, knowing that I need to listen to a load of holiday music for an upcoming article. The problem is I don't feel like it.

The reason is simple: It's not Thanksgiving yet.

I would like to have a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving before I listen to holiday music. But that's not gonna happen this year. It didn't happen last year, and it probably won't happen next year.

I don't have anything against holiday music. I think it's the most beautiful kind of music out there. I just want to have each of my holidays separate.

There's couple of S.L. radio stations that are already playing holiday music. And I'm not quite ready to hear about holly and/or Santa Claus comin' to town.

A few years ago, Windham Hill, which was the home of George Winston and Jim Brickman at one time, released a compilation called "Thanksgiving," which I have written about in the past

I wish I could write another story about a new "Thanksgiving" compilation, but none have been released since.

Maybe someday another one will be released. Let's hope so.

In the meanwhile, I guess I'll star taking those holiday CDs for some spins.
