Police are asking the public for its help in identifying a man who they say robbed a convenience store at gunpoint.

A man in a coat and dark hooded sweatshirt entered the Maverik store, 710 E. 2700 South, about 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Salt Lake Police Department. He brandished a black handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

Video surveillance footage of the incident can be viewed at www.slcpd.com/newsroom/videos/videos.html.

The clerk described the suspect as a white male, who was just under 6 feet tall and weighed about 160 pounds. The man had a goatee and was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt underneath a black coat that had a white marking on the left sleeve.

Anyone with information about the gunman's identity or location should call 801-799-3000 and reference "Maverik robbery" or case #09-198728. Callers may remain anonymous.
