MIDVALE — Police are investigating what they believe was a home invasion early Thursday but said many details in the incident are still unclear.

A call came in about 4:30 a.m. reporting a home invasion near 600 West and 7540 South, said Midvale Police Sgt. Ken Jarvis. The three victims who were in the home told police they first heard pounding at their front door, then as many as six intruders, wearing masks and hoodies and brandishing guns, forced their way inside.

Those in the home were told to lie on the floor before being bound with duct tape. Jarvis said police know little else because the victims seemed vague when it came to additional information.

"They're not sure how many came in, and they're a little foggy on what was taken and what they were after," Jarvis said.

At this point, the incident is classified as a home invasion, but there are "some issues and questions," he said. Investigators are looking into whether drugs were involved.

"Normally, things would be a little more exact and specific," Jarvis said. "There wouldn't be this many questions. And the evasiveness leads us to think, 'What's the rest of the story?' "
