PLEASANT GROVE — Traffic going south on I-15 came to a halt Thursday morning when a semitrailer hauling barrels of hay caught fire near the Pleasant Grove Blvd. exit.

The driver pulled over as soon as he noticed the truck was on fire and was able to get out safely, though his truck became "entirely engulfed and was destroyed," said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden.

All lanes were shut down for about 20 minutes while fire crews responded, Roden said. Two lanes were then opened while the area was cleared of smoke and debris.

Troopers continued cleanup efforts late Thursday morning. The cause of the fire was unknown.
