Lone Peak football player suspended by UHSAA after video review
A Lone Peak football player was suspended for one game after UHSAA officials reviewed a video from the team's quarterfinal loss to Hunter. As the Knights have been eliminated from the playoffs and the player is a senior, the suspension will only affect the student athlete if he plays another sport, said Mike Petty, supervisor of officials for UHSAA.
In that game a Hunter player was ejected, which means he will miss the Wolverines' semi-final game this week.
Petty said the UHSAA staff reviewed the ejection of the Hunter player because they reviewed the ejection of a Dixie player in another game. Players are not allowed to appeal an ejection from a game, but Petty said they reviewed the Dixie case after officials working the game asked them to do so. In that case, they overturned the ejection.
"In fairness, we reviewed the Hunter ejection as well," he said. "After watching the tape, we felt both players were participating pretty equally."
He said the Hunter player was in fact responding to some actions on the part of the Lone Peak player. The ejection of the Hunter player stands.
