LEHI — One person was flown out to a local hospital in serious to critical condition after an accident on I-15.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers said a semi-truck was in the right hand lane trying to slown down for traffic but ended up rear-ending a car. The smaller vehicle was pushed off the right shoulder of the road into some trees. The car's male driver was extricated from the vehicle and flown to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City about 7:30 p.m., UHP Trooper Cameron Roden said.

The freeway was closed on southbound lanes around the Lehi exit at 1200 West for 30 minutes for the helicopter to land. Two of the southbound lanes have been reopened, but traffic is backed up at least a mile north. Roden said northbound traffic is mostly cleared up after a crash 2 miles north of the semi-car accident. That accident is only blocking the left lane and there are minor injuries.

More information will be posted on our Web site as it becomes available.
