Sales tax unfair

Your Nov. 10 headline proclaims the desire of two of our state senators to increase the sales tax on food. It really is too bad they and others want to impose this very unfair tax on people. It is one tax that costs lower-income families and those on fixed incomes a disproportionate amount. The tax for a loaf of bread and gallon of milk costs the rich man and the poor man the same.

In these hard times — anytime, for that matter — it is difficult for lower-income families to pay the tax. The same goes for the gasoline tax. We all have to eat and drive to work. I hope the voters in Logan and Draper remember this come election time.
