OREM — Police are looking for two men who nearly flattened an officer during a pursuit Wednesday.

The officer responded to a home near 400 North and 400 East about 7 a.m. on a report that there were people at the door trying to collect money from someone living there, according to Orem Police Sgt. Craig Martinez.

When the officer approached a dark Jeep Cherokee with two people inside, the vehicle sped off, nearly running him over. After the passenger jumped out, the Jeep turned left onto 200 North and out of sight before the officer could pursue it, Martinez said.

A short time later, residents near 100 North and 600 East reported that a vehicle had crashed at high speed through a fence into an orchard. The driver fled on foot.

Martinez said police have identified the two men involved and are working to find them.
