Judging from the number of responses to Don Gale's column (Nov. 7), it appears he has struck a nerve. We are a strange breed in Utah. So much of our religious and cultural heritage promotes compassion, tolerance, fair-mindedness and other Christlike virtues. And yet our airwaves are filled every afternoon on KSL by the rantings and ravings of Sean Hannity. I go to Deseret Book and see rows of bookshelves devoted to Glenn Beck's latest book telling us how to speak to "idiots." Rush Limbaugh continues to enthrall many listeners of the far right with his hateful nonsense.

Mr. Gale was absolutely right in his comments. Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh peddle nothing but hate, fear and ignorance. Every time we listen to them on the radio or read one of their books, we fatten their pockets and enable them to continue their assault on reasonable, constructive political dialogue in America.
