We've all got one: a child who seems to subsist on sunshine and cold cereal. Here are some tips for getting some wins on this particular battleground.

1. Allow him a say in the meal planning. Pull out a cookbook, sit on the couch together and let your child help plan the meals. Encourage him to point out recipes that he would like to try.

2. Put more cooks in the kitchen. When kids are involved in the cooking process, they feel ownership for the food. Allow them to snack as they go: nibble the cheese as they grate it, take a piece of bread dough, lick the beaters.

3. Let her have a say at the grocery store. Give your daughter options in the fruit and vegetable aisle. Encourage her to try a fruit she's never had before.
