Term 'Latino' misused

I get a little tired of the misnomer of "Latino" being applied to anyone coming from south of the border. There are no Latins down there, because no Ancient Roman ever set foot on the continents of the "New World," not even Italian Christopher Columbus. Nobody down there speaks Latin. They speak Spanish and Portuguese. They are Nicaraguans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Peruvians, Brazilians, etc., and should be distinguished as such.
